Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer will be the acting governor of Negros Occidental once more.

In an executive order dated March 6, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said that Ferrer will serve as acting governor of Negros Occidental this week, until March 15, 2024.

Lacson said he will travel to Japan to attend the graduation of Negrense students enrolled in Houshin School of Health Care in Miyakonojo, Japan, as well as attending a consultative meeting with Negrense scholars.

He also designated Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko as the acting vice governor.

To ensure continuous and effective delivery of basic and social services, it is necessary to designate an acting governor and vice governor to assume their respective duties and responsibilities, Lacson said in his executive order.

On the other hand, Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez formally announced recently that Atty. Caesar Distrito will be his official spokesman.

Distrito, a former three-term city councilor, is presently the barangay captain of Singcang Airport in Bacolod City.

He was the running mate of Benitez during the 2022 elections, but lost to incumbent Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran.
