Bacolod City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City is urging the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), to prioritize the upkeep and improvement of the Bacolod-Silay Airport, particularly on amenities such as toilets, to better serve the needs of Bacolod residents and visitors.

The resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang and co-authored by Councilor Roberto Rojas, said the Silay Airport, although geographically located in Silay, is widely recognized as Bacolod Airport due to its name and the fact that the majority of passengers are either residents of Bacolod or travelling to/visiting Bacolod.

The airport plays a vital role in the transportation, tourism, and economic development of Bacolod City, Province of Negros Occidental and the surrounding areas, it said.

Current amenities, particularly toilets and other passenger facilities, require urgent attention to improve the comfort and the experience of travellers, the resolution said.

Proper maintenance and the development of the airport will support the growth of local tourism, facilitate commerce, and boost the overall economy of Bacolod, it added. (Chrysee Semillano via tvds)
