19,092 Cordillera Health Workers Vaccinated

Some nineteen thousand ninety two health workers from the different parts of the Cordillera were vaccinated with the available doses of Sinovac and Astrazeneca vaccines that were allocated for them by the health department.

DOH-CAR assistant regional director Dr. Amelita M. Panginlinan stated that of the number of vaccinated health workers, 10,005 were given the Astrazeneca vaccines while 9,087 received the Sinovac shots during the roll out of the vaccination for health workers in the different parts of the region.

Earlier, the health department provided the region with some 10,000 doses of Astrazeneca vaccines and 9,300 doses of Sinovac purposely for the vaccination of health workers pursuant to the priority list that was prepared by the inter-agency task force for the management of emerging infectious diseases.

Of the 10,000 does of Astrazeneca that was allocated to the region, 4,400 doses were given to Baguio City, 1,350 doses were released to Mountain Province, 1,160 doses went to Benguet, 898 doses were given to Kalinga, 850 doses were provided to Ifugao, 700 doses went to Apayao and 650 doses were given to Abra.

Based on the aforesaid allocation, 4,321 health workers were given the AstraZeneca shots in Baguio city, 1,416 health workers were vaccinated in Moutain Province, 1,172 health workers were given the shots in Benguet, 945 health workers were vaccinated in Kalinga, 739 health workers availed of the vaccines in Apayao and 706 health workers each in Ifugao and Abra were vaccinated.

For the Sinovac, 4,435 doses were allocated to Baguio City, 1,050 doses were given to Benguet, 1049 doses were received by Mountain Province, 960 doses were delivered to Apayao, 890 doses were distributed to Kalinga, 475 doses were distributed to Abra and 450 doses were given to Ifugao.

On the number of health workers that were vaccinated with the Sinovac, 4,261 health workers were vaccinated in Baguio City, 1,048 health workers were provided the vaccines in Benguet, 1039 health workers were given the vaccines in Mountain Province, 958 health workers received the vaccine Apayao, 875 health workers were provided the vaccine in Kalinga, 473 health workers were recipients of the vaccine in Abra and 423 health workers were given the vaccine in Ifugao.

Pangilinan noted that the region recorded a high percentage of health workers that were vaccinated with the available does of vaccines amidst the earlier hesitancy of the members of the priority sector in availing of the vaccine at the start of the roll out of the vaccination in the region.

The health official remains optimistic that the acceptance of the vaccines that will be arriving in the country in the coming months will improve as many of the frontliners will be vaccinated so that it will be easy to achieve the prescribed herd immunity of the populace to help in contain the rapid spread of the virus that could eventually compromise the overall health care system and stress the frontliners.
