182 Barangay’s Continue To Received Food Aid In Davao City

Davao City:  As Davao City remains under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), the 182 barangays continue to receive aid from the city government through its five food programs.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has distributed a total of 972,129 grocery packs since the start of the food ration on March 26, 2020.

CSWDO is set to roll out the third round of food rationing this week.

Last week, the City Agriculturist Office completed downloading fresh goods to Barangay Maa (May 5), Catalunan Grande (May 7), and Barangay Talomo (May 8).

To date, around 66,030 Dabawenyos benefitted from fresh goods. CAO already distributed 223,420 kilos of vegetables and fruits; 53,427 kilos of fish; 11,500 eggs; and, 21,998 kilos of chicken and pork.

Also last week, the City Veterinarian’s Office (CVO) distributed fresh foods to Barangays Leon garcia, Lapu-lapu, San Antonio, Wilfredo Aquino, Duterte, Agdao, Ponciano Bangoy, Mintal, Tugbok Proper, Tacunan, Sto. Niño, Waan, Sirawan, Barangay 23-C, and Barangay 19-B.

In total, the CVO has distributed a total of 10,866 kilos of pork; 37,863 dressed chickens; 2,700 eggs; 9,000 liters of fresh milk; 1,314 liters of cooking oil; and 129 sacks of salt to 53,852 households in 54 barangays since April 14, 2020.

Mayor Inday Sara Duterte said the CVO is also complementing the CSWDO’s grocery items with fresh goods in lockdown areas.

“Usually naga-augment pud sila sa CSWDO sa lockdown… para magsagol ang grocery and fresh food (Usually CVO also augments the CSWDO in the food distribution in the lockdown areas to complement the grocery with fresh food),” she said.

The Office of City Mayor through its Quick Response Team (QRT) also completed the fourth round of rice distribution to 182 barangays. Each barangay received a minimum of 4,000 kilos of rice, the barangay with a bigger population receive more kilos of rice.

The QRT repacks the food donations from private donors. On May 8, 2020, the QRT distributed packs to 2,008 individuals and 1,995 groups or a total of 4,003 grocery packs.

The city government through the Barangay Cultural and Community Affairs Division (BCCAD) also continued serving hot meals (lomi and lugaw) to 98 barangays. Hot meals are served daily at 10 a.m and 5 p.m.

Mayor Inday said BCCAD is also increasing its distribution in barangays with a bigger population. CIO
