Zamboanga: City Molecular Lab secures license to operate

The City Health Office is looking to open the PhP14M molecular testing center in Barangay San Roque as soon as operations guidelines have been finalized and preparations completed.

“We have already received our license to operate the [said] molecular laboratory,” city health officer Dr. Dulce Miravite disclosed during last Monday’s press briefer.

She added that guidelines for the operation of the said facility is being finalized.

“There are logistics preparations that we are doing for the opening anytime in the coming week,” the city official said.

The San Roque molecular laboratory is a City Government-funded facility. It would be the sixth of such facility to be established in the city as part of the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The other five molecular laboratories are those of the Department of Agriculture-Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) Biosafety Level 2, ZCMC Genexpress, Philippine Red Cross-Zamboanga City, West Metro Medical Center, and Ciudad Medical Zamboanga. (Claudine Uniana)
