Mayor Beng Climaco together with the City Social Welfare and Development and the City Treasurer’s Office spearheaded the distribution of financial assistance to senior citizens and pedicab drivers in line with the continuous implementation of the Local Social Amelioration Program (LSAP) at the Zamboanga Central School, Wednesday.
The senior citizens, who received ₱ 6k each, are not beneficiaries of other forms of assistance or social pensions.
Meanwhile, octogenarians and nonagenarians also received cash incentives from the City Government in line with the provisions of Ordinance 539.
On the other hand, 954 pedicab drivers also received cash assistance from the city to help them alleviate their plight amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The assistance forms part of the LSAP.
Joining the mayor during the distribution were Councilors Pinpin Pareja and El King Omaga.
The LSAP is the city’s recovery and rehabilitation program for all sectors affected by the pandemic.
Last week, financial assistance under LSAP were distributed to the jeepney drivers, tricycle drivers and LGBTQ+.
