The city government warmly welcomes James Ross Ellis, a Canadian national and longtime sailor, who made his way to Zamboanga City, after sailing from Dumaguete aboard his yacht as part of his continuing journey exploring the Philippines.
In an interview, Ellis revealed that he has embraced the yachting lifestyle for the past 25 years and has been living in the Philippines for more than three years, sailing across different islands around the country. He said sailing has already become part of his life, making it difficult for him to stay long on shore. He also shared that he sometimes takes people on sailing trips, describing it as a wonderful experience both for him and his guests.
It is Ellis’ first time visiting Zamboanga City, and he expressed excitement in discovering the city’s culture, people, tourist attractions, and natural beauty during his stay.
The City Government of Zamboanga through the City Tourism Office also extended its appreciation to the Bureau of Immigration, Bureau of Customs, Bureau of Quarantine, and the Philippine Coast Guard for ensuring that proper arrival protocols and procedures were observed upon his arrival.
