While conducting combat clearing operation, troops of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion discovered an enemy encampment in Sitio Talpok, Brgy. Salman, Ampatuan, Maguindanao on October 1, 2020.
“The camp can accommodate more or less fifty persons,” said Lt. Col. Omar Orozco 2MechBn Commander.
“Our troops were able to recover in the said encampment, three improvised explosives with accessories, assorted ammunitions, handheld radio, and a bag with personal belongings,” Lt. Col. Orozco added.
Troops immediately coordinated with the EOD Team to conduct investigation and proper handling of the recovered explosives.
“Congratulations to the troops of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion for this laudable accomplishment,” said 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Jesus D. Rico Atencio.
The recovered items are currently under the custody of the 2MechBn for documentation and proper disposition.
“We sustain our focused and deliberate offensives at strategic points to bring down key leaders and run down terrorists in the area,” said Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, JTF Central Commander.
Operating troops continue to scour the area.
“While we strengthen cooperation with other security agencies to end lawlessness, we also continue to support the local government in the implementation of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program and other pro-active measures and initiatives that will facilitate the surrender of terrorists,” said Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., WestMinCom Commander.
