The Local Government Unit of Tagum is providing cash-for-work opportunity through its Enhanced Gulayan Program especially to returning OFWs who are currently unemployed.

Tagum Mayor Allan Rellon said that the Enhanced Gulayan Program is a food security program that uses 300 square meter lands currently unused by the government, for planting and growing of crops and vegetables.

With this, a new job opportunity is offered in the form of cash-for-work to the Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs), through which, they will be paid more than ₱ 300 daily for the maintenance and cultivation of the land.

“Ang cash for work gi adopt namo (We have adopted the cash-for-work). Gipa realign nako ang budget sa Employment Services Office, (I have asked the Employment Services Office to align a budget),” said Rellon.

He added that there will be 500 beneficiaries and that the cash-for-work will be for 10 days.

Mayor Rellon assured that “health and agriculture are the priority in the budget”.

The Enhanced Gulayan Program also benefits the LGU’s Seryosong Tagumenyos Ayaw Ng Droga (STAND) Program graduates who will be given the same cash-for-work opportunity as the OFW returnees.

The Enhanced Gulayan Program serves as a livelihood for the STAND graduate beneficiaries with the LGU’s Marketing Assistance Program helping them sell their grown produce when they are harvested.

As well, the Tagumpay Mobile Agri-Market, also known as Kadiwa on Wheels, is a venue for selling of the harvested vegetables, fruits, and other agri-products at low cost in the different barangays in Tagum, conveniently bringing fresh produce closer to the residents.
