The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) initiated the 1st DRRM Summit last March 14, 2023 and lasts until March 16, 2023. This is a three (3) day activity of bringing together stakeholders from various sectors to discuss and reinforce the city’s DRRM efforts.
The program was divided into two sessions. First session focuses on the Basic Life Support (BLS) where it was discussed by Mr. Edgar Y. Latras, Jr. and his team. The BLS session aimed to equip barangay personnel with the essential life-saving skills in case of emergencies or disasters.
In the first session, Mr. Latras and his team introduced the basics of BLS, including CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and first aid techniques. The participants were also given hands-on training and simulations to practice.
In the second session, the participants were breakout into groups and given different scenarios for them to apply what they were taught during the lecture. The scenarios simulate real-life emergencies that could occur in their barangays.
The participants had to work together, using their newly acquired knowledge and skills to manage the situation and provide assistance to the affected individuals.
The said activity is in line with Mayor Paul Dumlao’s vision of building a resilient city by capacitating and strengthening the DRRM at the local level.
