IOM (International Organization for Migration) – Philippines, through the generous support of the Government of Japan, delivered a series of multi-sectoral assistance for shelter, camp coordination and camp management (CCCM), and health with an aim to mitigate the adverse impact of the Typhoon Odette (Rai) to the most affected and remote communities in Siargao Island, which includes Del Carmen.

During the conference, IOM turned-over a Medical Cold Chain Vehicle, Biomedical Refrigerator and Emergency Health Kits to the different municipalities in Siargao, including Del Carmen. This equipment will be utilized in support to the different health centers in the island.

IOM Philippines is very instrumental in the recovery of Siargao Island after the devastation caused by Typhoon Odette. IOM:

  • provided relief assistance such as shelter repair kits;
  • trained the communities to build back safer;
  • assisted the evacuation centers;
  • oriented the community leaders on support techniques;
  • provided psychological aid;
  • prepared mobile health clinics;
  • administered mobile health services;
  • assisted the facilities with medical equipment; and
  • distributed health kits

Salamat Karajaw, IOM Philippines, for everything that you do. Salamat Karajaw for the love, care and support that you always share with the Siargaonons, most especially to the Del Carmenons.
