Present in the meeting were the Regional Director of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), Atty. Remlane M. Tambuang; PNP Caraga Director, POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M. CARAMAT, JR; Commander of the 4th Infantry Division, MAJOR GENERAL ROMEO S. BRAWNER, JR; and the Commander of Coast Guard District Northeastern Mindanao, COAST GUARD CAPTAIN DENNIS A. PANDEAGUA.

The main agenda in the activity are the preparations for the upcoming campaign period and the utilization of all manpower and resources of the different agencies involved to ensure organized and systematic elections as well as maintaining peace and order in the community.

“The PNP Caraga commits full support to the COMELEC and other government agencies in ensuring peaceful and orderly 2022 elections in the Caraga region mobilizing our manpower and assets needed for the entire operations. By integrating and harmonizing our efforts through the JPSCC, we can address the potential threats and risks including those posed by the Communist Terrorist Group and other lawless elements,” RD CARAMAT stated.

Moreover, COMELEC Caraga Assistant Director, Atty. Geraldine Samson, discussed the salient features of the Commission’s Resolution No. 10728 particularly the gun ban and the prohibition against availment or engagement of the services of security personnel or bodyguards unless authorized by the Commission.

“I have already directed police unit Commanders to recall their personnel detailed as VIP security to politicians pending the approval of applications for the issuance of Certificate of Authority,” RD CARAMAT, JR said.

JPSCC was created after the successful implementation of the PNP and AFP partnership during the May 2010 elections following its activation. The Philippine Coast Guard was added to the council last July 23, 2021, to further strengthen the country’s war on terrorism and criminality. (PMaj. Dorothy M. Tumulak)
