Claver, Surigao del Norte – 70 professional and amateur surfers from the municipalities of Siargao and mainland Surigao del Norte joined the 1st Invitational Surfing Competition, a 3 day watersport competition held first time in Claver.
The opening ceremony kicked off on Friday, November 12 at the Lawihon Boulevard, Barangay Tayaga, Claver at 9:00AM following the blessing and inauguration of the said venue.
Provincial Governor Francisco “Lalo” Matugas led the opening ceremony, together with Vice Governor Geed Gokiangkee, Mayor Georgia Gokiangkee, other municipal officials, Punong Barangay of Tayaga Hon. Arneil Laurena and Josephine Egay of the Provincial Tourism Office.
Mayor Gokiangkee’s Office is the lead organizer of the said activity.
“We would like to prove that Claver is not just a place for mining, but also a destination for those seeking adventures and beautiful attractions”, she said.
The champions for both divisions will receive ₱ 15, 000.00; the runners-up will receive ₱ 10,000.00, ₱ 7,000.00 and ₱ 5,000.00 each, respectively.
