Stabbing incident transpired at Purok 2, Brgy. Lower Gumay, Piñan, Zamboanga Del Norte at about 7:00 PM of October 17, 2020.
Initial investigation conducted disclosed that the suspect identified as Loremer Ganuyan, 37 years old, single, and a resident of Brgy. Poblacion South, Piñan, Zamboanga Del Norte and the victim identified as Cristoto Gapol Ganuyan, 33 years old, married, and a resident of Brgy. Lower Gumay, Piñan, Zamboanga Del Norte were having a drinking session at the house of their relative named Regie Anenesa Gumantason located at Purok 2, Brgy. Lower Gumay, Piñan, Zamboanga Del Norte.
As their session go on, their conversation turned into a heated argument and eventually ended into a fist fight. During their fight, the suspect turned to be badly beaten which caused him to take the gaff (bulang) from his pocket, worn it on his finger and stabbed the victim on the chest and the different parts of his body.
After the incident, the suspect immediately fled towards their home at Brgy. Poblacion South, Piñan, Zamboanga Del Norte, while the victim was also brought to barangay proper and subsequently brought on board Pinan MDRRMO ambulance but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. Post mortem examination was conducted and discovered that the victim sustained eight stabbed wounds mostly in the chest which caused his untimely death.
Further, PNP personnel of Pinan Municipal Police Station conducted hot pursuit operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspect at the vicinity of Brgy. Poblacion, South Piñan, Zamboanga Del Norte.
