A man struck his mother with a spade and dragged her body to the comfort room and burned her.
The incident took place at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday in Sitio Talaptap, Barangay Cabadiangan, Sipalay City.
Chief Inspector Anthony Grande, City Police OIC, identified the victim as Gloria Alconten Eseng, 63, widow, resident of the place.
He named the suspect as Roland Alconten Eseng, 42, widower, also of the place.
Roland is reportedly suffering from a mental illness. Police arrested and detained him.
The victim was sitting together with her grandchildren Resha Mea Velasco, 7 years old, and grandson and Ren John Velasco, 6 years old, when she was struck by the suspect using a spade.
He then dragged his unconscious mother to the comfort room which is about five meters away in front of their house, and set her ablaze.
