Shooting incident transpired at Purok 6, Poblacion, Godod, Zamboanga Del Norte at about 7:00 PM of August 23, 2020, wherein victim identified as Roel Alimpong Abayon, 55 years old, married, farmer and a resident of Purok 6, Poblacion, Godod, Zamboanga Del Norte was shot by the suspect identified as Ric-Ric “Tatang” Limetares, 24 years old, married a habal-habal driver, and a resident of Brgy. Mauswagon, Godod, Zamboanga del Norte.
Initial investigation disclosed by the victim that while he was inside their residence together with his son named Ritchie Abayon. The suspect appeared at their residence and asked the victim’s son of the whereabouts of his father and in response of the son, he informed his father (victim) that somebody is looking for him, thereat, victim shows out and the suspect asked the victim in Visayan language “mugabas ka part?” (referring to cut a tree) and thereafter, said suspect immediately shot the victim once using unknown caliber type of firearms, but fortunately, the said victim was not hit. Right after the incident the suspect then quickly fled towards the awaiting single motorcycle bound to Brgy. Mauswagon, Godod, Zamboanga Del Norte.
PNP personnel of Godod Municipal Police Station (MPS) immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation and successfully arrested the aforementioned suspect but the firearm used in the commission of the crime was not recovered.
Motive of the incident was still unknown. The arrested suspect is now under the custody of Godod (MPS) for proper disposition. (PCpt. Edwin A. Duco, Chief Public Information Officer)
