Shooting incident transpired at Purok 5 Gate, Brgy. Panubigan, Pitogo Zamboanga Del Sur at about 9:15 PM of October 4, 2020, wherein victims identified as Gemma Vergis Santana, 46 years old, housewife, married, a resident of Purok 5 Gate, Brgy. Panubigan, Pitogo (DOA) at Pitogo Municipal Health Office and Regine Vergis Santana, 23 years old, single, a resident of aforementioned place, who was hit at her right leg.
Initial investigation disclosed that victim (Gemma Vergis Santana) was attending her small sari-sari store, when suddenly two unidentified suspects wearing face mask and ball cap disguised to buy cigarettes but suddenly shot the victim four times using caliber .45 pistol based on recovered three spent shell and one piece slug.
The victim sustained four gunshots wounds in her lower left breast, right armpit and head which was declared dead by the attending physician Dr. Erickson P. Padunan, Rural Health Officer, while daughter identified as Regine Santana was hit at her right legs which immediately referred to Zamboanga Del Sur Medical Center, Dao, Pagadian City for immediate medical attention.
The suspects fled toward Brgy. Tongao, Pitogo, Zamboanga Del Sur on board unknown single motorcycle. Motive of the incident is believed to be personal grudge.
PNP personnel of Pitogo Municipal Police Station are now conducting investigation for the possible identification and arrest of the suspects. (PCpt. Edwin A. Duco, Chief Public Information Officer)
