Second Batch Of Returnees To Arrive Zamboanga City On Thursday

Three Hundred Ninety Five Filipino returnees coming from Sabah, Malaysia expected to arrive Zamboanga City on Thursday.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said, this is the second batch of the 5,300 returnees deported from Malaysia.

Ivan Eric Salvador, DSWD 9 information officer said in an interview, four from DSWD regional office 9, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Quarantine, and others are now on their way to Malaysia.

He said, the DSWD will be incharge of the profiling of the returnees.

On what strategy will be followed for the second batch, if there will be changes, he said a meeting will still be conducted.

Food, family foodpacks, and hygiene kits will be provided to all returnees.

For the first batch, Tawi Tawi returnees already disembarked at Tawi Tawi. For other areas, after disembarkation in Zamboanga City, returnees will be fetched by their respective local government units.

Those from other regions were housed at the DSWD Processing Center for Displaced Persons located at Barangay Talon Talon.

Returnees on board the MV Antonia also tested negative in the Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction Test to assure they are not carriers of Coronavirus Disease 2019. (R.G. A A. Go)
