President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will be the guest of honor during the 86th birthday celebration of Olivia V. Yanson, the matriarch of the Yanson family, at the L’ Fisher Hotel tonight.
Yanson, who is also known as OVY, confirmed the President’s arrival in her talk with reporters during her pre-birthday celebration with employees and friends at the family beach house in neighboring Talisay City last night.
“He will come tomorrow (Thursday). The Presidential Security Group (members) are already here,” she said.
The Yanson family, staunch supporters of Duterte, would usually host the Chief Executive at their place in Talisay whenever he would visit Bacolod.
“The President wants me to sit near him. We will have our picture taken together,” she quipped.
OVY said that whenever he would come, one of the things the President does is belt out his favorite song “Ikaw”.
“He is a good singer,” she added.
OVY said that aside from the President, Senators Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, Imee Marcos, and Ronald de la Rosa, as well as members of Duterte’s Cabinet are also expected to arrive.
The Yanson matriarch has been thrust into the national consciousness after her six children figured in an ongoing intra-corporate battle involving the family-owned Yanson Group of Bus Companies, the country’s largest bus firm operating across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
“My birthday wish is to be loving always. I will continue my charity. I will spend my life in my charity work, through the OVY Foundation,” she said.
In January last year, the Chief Executive also attended the birthday celebration of the youngest Yanson sibling, Leo Rey, at the L’ Fisher Hotel. (Nanette Guadalquiver ndb via pna)
