Surigao City  – Maintenance workers turned over to authorities a bag left behind by a passenger at the men’s room of the Lipata Ferry Terminal last Tuesday (September 14).

According to utility workers John Mark Paular and Gaudioso Segura, they were going about their usual chores when they chanced upon the bag, apparently left by a passenger. Upon checking its contents, they found ₱ 56,000 in cash, identification cards and various documents.

Paular and Segura immediately sought help from the on duty Port Police Officer, PPO2 Vincelyn Aries Eviota, to locate the owner. Eviota lost no time in contacting the owner through information found in one of the papers inside the bag – a money transmittal form with contact numbers.

Within minutes, a certain Arman Calimpong showed up to claim the bag, and was verified to be the rightful owner. A visibly relieved Calimpong was all too grateful when his bag was given back to him by the Lipata Ferry Terminal Manager Allan Yap.

A resident of El Salvador City, Calimpong is the driver of a tanker on the way to Manila from Cagayan de Oro City via the eastern nautical highway.
