Bacolod City – The Negros Occidental City Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) here will hold a License To Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) caravan in the province to cater to gun enthusiasts and firearm owners, starting this week.

Police Major Edison Garcia, chief of NOCPPO’s Public Information Office (PIO), said the law on firearms mandates that all firearm owners are required to secure an LTOPF before they can possess a gun.

The caravan will be conducted at Bago Tourism Office, Bantayan Park, Bago City on August 19 to 20; in San Carlos City on September 2-3; and in Hinigaran town on October 8 to 9.

Garcia said existing gun owners can also renew their expired firearms licenses during the caravan to avoid penalties.

All applicants shall pre-register online through Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) website or account. Also, proof of pre-registration either photo or screenshot must be shown at their respective police station on or before August 17 for categorization or scheduling. No walk-in applicant will be entertained.

Categorization will be made for the strict implementation of the “new normal” health protocols during the said caravan.

The specific date and time of processing for every applicant will be based on color coding given at their respective police station.

Police Colonel Romy Palgue, NOCPPO director said this is the most adequate response that the police can offer to all responsible gun owners amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“We will not be bogged down in serving and protecting the Negrenses,” he added.

He said he is grateful to Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, director of Police Regional Office (PRO-6) for allowing the caravan. (Glazyl Y. Masculino via TDG, photo by TDG)
