Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has directed city and municipal disaster risk reduction and management councils (DRRMCs) in the province to initiate proactive preparedness for Typhoon Tisoy.

“Place your respective operation centers on blue alert status on Friday,” the governor stated in a memorandum order recently.

Lacson, who chairs the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), advised the cities and municipalities to heighten their preparedness as well as take appropriate precautionary actions for possible flooding, flashfloods or landslides.

“Ensure waterways are clear, review your contingency plan and mitigate possible risk in your area of responsibility,” he said.

As of the weekend, the regional weather forecast showed that the whole Visayas, including Negros Occidental and Bacolod City, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds from the northeast to north will prevail over Visayas and Negros Island with moderate to rough seas.

PAGASA said Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 1 has  beenraised over the eastern portion of Bicol Region-Eastern Visayas area yesterday.

The typhoon’s outer rainbands may bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas today.
