Mayor Sara Urges Dabawenyos To Remain Vigilant Vs Terrorists

Davao City – Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has urged Dabawenyos to remain vigilant and be an active partner of the city’s Culture of Security campaign in light of the bombing incident in Jolo, Sulu.

“Kung dili ta magmatngon, maghatag og importance and dili magpakita ug care sa atoang siyudad, mahitabo gyud na diri sa atoa. (If we do not learn to give importance and care for our city, it will happen here),” she said in an interview over the Davao City Disaster Radio.

Mayor Sara said that Davao City is no stranger to any acts of terrorism in the city.

She emphasized the role of the Dabawenyos in anti-terror activities of the city. People need to follow the four acts of the Culture of Security—volunteer, report, remind and participate.

Meanwhile, Davao City is on high alert following the twin bombing incident in Brgy. Walled City, Jolo, Sulu on Sunday.

Angel Sumagaysay, the head of the Public Security and Safety Command Center (PSSCC) that Davao City is on alert status level 3 per the recommendation of the Davao City Anti-Terror Council.

“We have coordinated with the different security clusters to strengthen our security measures,” Sumagaysay said on Monday.

Sumagaysay added that the barangay captains were already instructed to utilize their barangay tanods and other force multipliers to safeguard their areas of responsibility and to immediately report suspicious persons to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and Task Force Davao (TFD).

The Central 911 Call Center was also instructed to promptly answer any calls that may be vital to local security and relay the information to the city’s security units.

Sumagaysay urged Dabawenyos to cooperate with all checkpoint protocols as there will be stricter inspections at all entry points of the city.
