Lightning incident transpired at Zone 3, Sitio Tala, Brgy. Boalan, Zamboanga City at about 12:30 PM of November 5, 2020. The victim was identified as Andrey John Macsog Araneta, 13 years old, male, minor, Grade 7 student of Maria Clara Lobregat National High School, of Brgy. Boalan, Zamboanga City. PNP personnel of Zamboanga City Police Station 5 immediately proceeded to the reported place of incident. Thereat, victim was seen lying in prone position under a Tamarind Tree.
Investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, a certain Maricor Eugenio saw the minor sitting under the Sampaloc Tree together with his friend Carlo and after a few minutes the victim was eventually hit by a lightning. He sustained burn injuries on his left shoulder and was rushed to Mindanao Cantal Sanitarium Hospital however, the attending physician declared the victim dead on arrival.
