Lantern Making In Zamboanga City Jail Continues Despite Pandemic

Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) of the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC) will continue their yearly lantern making despite the pandemic, Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19).

SJO1 Rey Laurence Comprendio, Zamboanga City Jail (ZCJ) information officer told RPN DXXX, the PDL’s will start their lantern making on Saturday.

Comprendio said, ten PDL’s will be involved in the parol making. Only ten were allowed due to the pandemic.

On the profit, ten percent will go to the PDL welfare program while 90 percent for those PDL’s making the lanterns.

These lanterns will be sold online and outside the gate of ZCRC. The price of the lanterns ranges from ₱ 300 to ₱ 1500 depending on the material and size.

“Amidst this pandemic, ZCRC is inviting the public to avail the lanterns of these PDL’s. This is one of their livelihood program,” Comprendio said.

This lantern making is a yearly activity of these PDL’s where they can earn money and somehow give something for their love ones this holiday season. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
