Lacson-Ferrer Tandem Gets Metro Third Backing

Bacolod City – The Metro Third District mayors also joined the bandwagon supporting the reelection bid of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer.

At the same time, the mayors of 3rd District composed of Mark Golez – Silay City, Neil Lizares – Talisay City, Francis Frederick Palanca – Victorias City, Marvin Malacon – EB Magalona and Gerardo Rojas also expressed their full support to the bid of former Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Bantug Benitez for mayor of Bacolod City, as well as reelection bid of Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez.

Lacson and the Benitez brothers met with Metro Third District Asenso Team on September 15 and discussed political plans for the May next year elections.

Rep. Benitez hailed the unity of Asenso group in the Third District while former Rep. Alfredo Benitez said that Negros Occidental is now in “good hands,” and the unity among local officials in the province has even become stronger under the present leadership.

On the other hand, Lacson also thanked the Metro Third District for their support to his tandem with Ferrer in the next year elections.

The Metro Third District officials also endorsed the reelection bids of Abang Lingkod Rep. Stephen Joseph Paduano and three-termer Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca as the party list group second nominee, as well as that of Board Members Manuel Frederick Ko and Andrew Montelibano.

Amid the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental, the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) is postponing its scheduled party convention on September 18, its secretary general Salvador Escalante Jr. yesterday said.

In an advisory dated September 15, Escalante said the decision to move the event until further notice was made by the party’s Executive Committee.

“As we are fast approaching the filing of our Certificate of Candidacies (COCs) between October 1 and 8, you are also advised to do so early to avoid any inconvenience,” Escalante said.
