Kapatagan posts 4th straight victory at Pagadian’s expense

Streaking Kapatagan fended off home team Pagadian City, 69-62, for its fourth straight win in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup Mindanao Challenge on Monday at the city gymnasium in Zamboanga del Sur.

Pagadian went on a huge 21-9 blast  from six players to topple a 13-point third quarter deficit and close in at 58-59, with 3:13 remaining in the fourth period.But the Buffalos had one last run i to shrug off the Explorers’ comeback attempt.

Edrian Lao, Mark Daanoy, KD Ariar and Joel Sollano scored in a 10-4 closing run to cap their three-game spree in as many days.”We have our hearts in the game. Our veterans refused to wilt and so were the rookies,”Kapatagan head coach Jaime Rivera said.  

Daanoy led the Buffalos with 12 while Ariar finished with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.Homegrown Sollano had 10 points while Lao and Jonel Bonganciso grabbed 13 and 15 rebounds, respectively, to go with nine points each.

Kapatagan improved to 4-2 won-lost, while handing Pagadian its third straight defeat for a 2-4 card at sixth spot.Glenn Acaylar paced the Explorers with 12 points and five rebounds while Niño Ibañez wound up with 10 points.

Judel Fuentes was limited to only seven points on a woeful 3-of-14 shooting from the field.
