Police Regional Office 5 headed by PBGEN ANDRE P DIZON, RD is currently on alert status, with 1,600 personnel ready to provide assistance as Typhoon “Pepito” approaches. These personnel will be deployed to various areas to support the government’s disaster response efforts. Their main roles will include assisting in mass evacuations, providing security, conducting rescue operations, and offering logistical support to affected communities.
In terms of evacuation, PRO5 personnel will work closely with local government units (LGUs) and disaster management teams to safely relocate residents from areas at high risk of flooding, landslides, and other hazards caused by the typhoon. They will ensure that evacuation centers are secure and that displaced individuals receive the help they need.
In addition to evacuation efforts, the PRO5 will also be on standby to conduct rescue operations in flooded areas or locations where people may be stranded due to the typhoon’s heavy rains and strong winds. This includes deploying search and rescue teams equipped with the necessary tools to reach residents in danger.
The unit will also assist in providing general public safety, ensuring that looting or any form of civil unrest does not occur during the disaster response. They will work with other emergency responders to coordinate relief efforts and ensure that the community remains safe and orderly.
The Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) and the Critical Incident Monitoring Team (CIMAT) have also been activated to enhance response capabilities and coordination.
Moreover, we will also beef up our dissemination efforts of important warnings, advisories, and updates to the public, encouraging adherence to evacuation orders and safety protocols.
