Iriga: PRO5 extends assistance to Masbate Police Personnel affected by Typhoon “Opong”

Personnel from the Masbate Police Provincial Office who were severely affected by Typhoon “Opong” received financial assistance from the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) under the leadership of PBGEN NESTOR C BABAGAY, JR., RD.

The financial aid was personally handed over by PLTCOL TYRONE DOTIMAS, Acting Chief RLRDD, during the flag-raising ceremony held on September 29, 2025. The assistance aims to provide immediate relief and support to police personnel and their families who suffered losses during the onslaught of the typhoon.

Over the weekend, PBGEN Babagay Jr. also directed the deployment of technical teams to Masbate to conduct a thorough assessment of the damages sustained by police facilities, as well as the extent of impact on personnel and their families. This initiative accentuates PRO5’s commitment not only to the welfare of its personnel but also to ensuring that the organization remains fully operational in serving the community even after calamities.

“The well-being of our personnel is a top priority. By extending assistance, we are not only helping them recover but also strengthening their capacity to continue fulfilling their mandate of public service despite challenges,” PBGEN Babagay Jr. said in a statement.

In addition to financial aid, relief operations are being continuously carried out in coordination with partner agencies and stakeholders to address the immediate needs of affected personnel and communities in the province.

PRO 5 reaffirmed its commitment to stand with its personnel and their families during times of crisis, ensuring that no one is left behind in the recovery process.
