The Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council Albay elected a new set of officers and sectoral committee chairpersons to strengthen representation and support for the province’s agriculture and fisheries sector.
The election was held at the Kadiwa ng Pangulo in the Albay Farmers Bounty Village in Barangay Cabangan, Camalig.
The proceedings were supervised by Albay Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Maria Aurea C. Bo-Bunao of the Commission on Elections and Jaymel E. Imperial of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
Elected sectoral committee chairpersons were Aurelio Castelo for Rice and Other Food Staples, Luz Caraang for Corn and Other Feed Crops, Augustus Portem for Pili and Cacao, Domingo Lopez for Climate Change, Environment and Natural Resources, Alvin Roxas for Fruits and Vegetables, Gerard Bitara for Fiber Crops, Romeo Mendez for Poultry and Livestock, Imelda Belda for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Rene De Los Reyes for AFMech, Marlon Medes for Coconut, Cynthia Lisay for Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, and Roberto Diesta for Youth in Agriculture and Fisheries.
The newly elected leaders are expected to help strengthen partnerships, advance sectoral concerns, and promote the interests of farmers, fisherfolk, and other agricultural stakeholders in the province.
PAFC said the new leadership will play a key role in supporting sustainable and resilient agriculture and fisheries development across Albay.
