The vibrant flower section at the Naga City People’s Mall (NCPM), usually bustling with customers, now stands as a stark reminder of the devastation wrought by Tropical Storm Kristine.
While the city slowly recovers from the floodwaters that inundated its streets, the flower growers of Naga are demonstrating resilience, adapting to the challenges and finding ways to rebuild their livelihoods.
The once-lively flower market, overflowing with roses, “puto-puto,” regatta, and sunflowers, is now a scene of destruction, buried under mounds of garbage and foul-smelling mud. The city is still grappling with the immense task of clearing the sludge and debris, a daunting task that has been ongoing for over a week.
