Marking a significant milestone in the region’s public health and rehabilitation efforts, the Malinao Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (MTRC) held a press conference as part of its 25th founding anniversary on July 21, 2025 at Lagman Hall, MTRC, Malinao, Albay.
The said press conference, anchored on the theme, “MTRC @ 25: A Celebration of Hope, Healing, and Transformation,” highlighted its pivotal role as one of the cornerstones of drug treatment and rehabilitation services in the Bicol Region.
MTRC has served as safe haven for individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorders, offering not only medical care but also comprehensive psychosocial interventions and community reintegration programs.
Among its core programs are its In-Patient, Out-patient, Aftercare and Follow-Up, and Residential Treatment Services; tailored according to the severity of each client’s condition determined through Drug Dependency Examinations.
This ensure individuals receive appropriate, targeted, and holistic care throughout their recovery journey.
In his message, Dr. Fulbert Alec R. Gillego, Chief of Hospital III, underscored MTRC’s unwavering commitment to providing quality, compassionate, and evidence-based services to Persons Who Use Drugs (PWUDs).
Looking ahead, Dr. Gillego outlined the center’s plans, which include pursuing accreditation of its programs under PhilHealth Reimbursement Packages, expanding dormitory facilities and increasing bed capacities, and instituting food sufficiency initiatives to further enhance the well-being of both residents and staff.
The MTRC further reaffirmed its vision of fostering hope, healing, and transformation committed to addressing substance use and promoting healthy lifestyle. (DOH5/NRB)
