Iriga: PRO5 Joins the Simultaneous Relief Operations Nationwide Amidst Weather Disturbances

Rising to the call of duty amidst the aftermath of severe weather, the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO 5), under the leadership of Acting Regional Director PBGEN NESTOR C. BABAGAY JR., launched simultaneous relief operations across the Bicol Region on July 27, 2025. As part of its unwavering commitment to public service and community support, PRO 5 mobilized personnel and resources to bring vital aid to hundreds of affected individuals and families in four provinces.

The initiative was conducted in unison with the nationwide relief efforts led by the Chief, PNP PGEN NICOLAS D TORRE III, in response to recent weather-related emergencies across the country. Similar operations were simultaneously carried out in the National Capital Region and other police regional offices, reflecting the PNP’s unified and coordinated approach to crisis response.

In Albay, 50 residents of Sta. Cruz, Libon received essential aid as PRO 5 provided immediate support to families impacted by recent calamities.

In Sorsogon, 40 fisherfolk and 90 families received relief assistance during an outreach operation.

In Camarines Sur, 90 families were assisted during a relief distribution held at the Migs R. Villafuerte Covered Court in Bato, located in front of the Bato Municipal Police Station. The activity was led by PCOL ROQUE A. BAUSA, Deputy Regional Director for Operations (DRDO), PRO 5, together with PRO 5 personnel.

In Camarines Norte, affected PRO 5 personnel also received assistance as part of the organization’s internal welfare support efforts.

Meanwhile, in Catanduanes, 210 fisherfolk in San Vicente, Virac were given relief goods in an activity carried out through the collaborative efforts of PRO 5 and the Municipal Government of Virac.

Each relief package included rice, canned goods, noodles, personal hygiene kits, and other essential items aimed at addressing the immediate needs of the beneficiaries.

These efforts reflect not only PRO 5’s readiness to respond swiftly in times of crisis, but also its proactive role in bringing humanitarian assistance directly to affected communities. The operations highlight the organization’s dedication to service that extends well beyond its law enforcement mandate.

Through this large-scale initiative, PRO 5 reinforces its identity as a dependable public service institution, committed to standing in solidarity with communities during times of hardship.
