The Local Government Unit of Buhi held its first mental health forum for officials, employees, and stakeholders on December 13, 2023, at the Buhi Millennium Center. The activity marks the first step toward recognizing mental health as an important aspect of a work environment that prioritizes the well-being of employees and reduces stigma around mental health.

Dr. Edessa M. Parde-Laguidao, head of the Department of Psychiatry at the Bicol Medical Center, was the resource speaker for the forum. The forum tackled key points like recognizing mental health issues, building resilience, and creating a supportive environment.

This activity was also part of the LGU Buhi’s Mental Health Program, a response to the Civil Service Commission’s mandate.

The activity served as an eye-opener for employees, showcasing the importance of mental health for holistic well-being. It also provided an opportunity for them to gain a better understanding of their own mental and behavioral makeup, including that of their colleagues.
