The City Government of Iriga proudly joins the Bicol Center for Health Development in celebrating excellence in public health following Iriga Cityβs recognition at the 14th Salud Bikolnon Awards, held on December 16, 2025, at The Oriental Hotel, Legazpi City.
Carrying the theme βππ’π΅π’π―π°π΄ π―π’ ππ¦π³π£πͺπ΄πΊπ°π―π¨ ππ’ππΆπ₯ ππͺπ¬π°ππ―π°π―: ππ³π¨π°ππΊπ° π¬π’π― π¬π’ππͺπ¬π°ππ’π―,β the annual awards program honors local government units and partners whose leadership, collaboration, and sustained commitment have contributed to the Department of Healthβs achievements and to the continued delivery of quality health services across the Bicol Region.
During the ceremony, Iriga City was named a recipient of the Performance-Based Incentives for Barangay Health Workers, with the Iriga City Barangay Health Workers Federation receiving the Grand Prize of Php 300,000. This recognition highlights the cityβs commitment to community-based primary health care. The award is anchored on Republic Act No. 7883, which institutionalized support for barangay health workers as frontline volunteers and community health providers, whose roles remain vital under the Universal Health Care Act in delivering preventive, promotive, and basic curative services.
The award was received on behalf of the City Government of Iriga by City Health Officer Dr. Ronald G. PereΓ±a, together with City BHW Coordinator Angeli Sol N. Sta. Cruz, RM, RN; Assistant BHW Coordinator Cindy S. Salazar, RM; and BHW Federation President Emilda N. Magistrado, reflecting the collective dedication and coordinated efforts of Iriga Cityβs barangay health workforce in advancing accessible and responsive health services for IrigueΓ±os.
In the same event, Iriga City was also conferred the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health Institutionalization Award, highlighting the cityβs consistent efforts to integrate disaster preparedness, risk reduction, and resilience into its local health systems and programs. The recognition affirms the cityβs proactive approach to protecting public health, particularly in emergency and disaster situations, and ensuring the continuity of essential health services. The award was received by Dr. PereΓ±a, Dr. Maria Michelle P. Guadalupe, Noemi A. Trinidad-Grimaldo, RN, and Rick M. Lachanibre, RN, on behalf of the City Government of Iriga and its health sector partners.
