A high-value individual (HVI) was arrested after authorities seized more than 200 grams of suspected shabu during a joint buy-bust operation conducted on January 3, 2026, in Purok 5, Sitio Kanggao, Barangay Quitago, Guinobatan, Albay.
The operation, carried out at around 9:10 a.m., was led by joint personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Albay Provincial Office and the Guinobatan Municipal Police Station following validated intelligence reports and surveillance activities.
Arrested was a suspect identified by the alias “Johny,” 27 years old, a resident of Barangay Rizal, Taguig City. The suspect was apprehended after selling suspected shabu to an undercover operative. Subsequent search and seizure operations yielded several sachets of suspected shabu with a total estimated weight of more than 200 grams.
The seized illegal drugs have a total standard price of PhP 1,360,000.00.
Inventory and documentation of the seized evidence were immediately conducted at the place of arrest in the presence of mandatory witnesses, in strict compliance with Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The suspect was properly informed of his constitutional rights and is currently under police custody. Appropriate criminal charges for violation of RA 9165 are now being prepared for filing before the proper court.
PBGEN Erosito N Miranda, Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office 5, lauded the successful operation and commended the joint operating team for their vigilance and coordinated efforts against illegal drugs.
“This accomplishment is a testament to the effectiveness of our intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign. We will continue to sustain this momentum to protect our communities from the harmful effects of illegal drugs,” PBGEN Miranda said.
He further emphasized that the operation forms part of the Enhanced Managng Police Operation strategies under the focused agenda of the Acting Chief of the Philippine National Police, PLTGEN Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr., noting that these strategies continue to produce positive results in ensuring public safety and security across the region. ###
