In a continuing effort to safeguard the well-being of displaced families amid the Mayon Volcano unrest, DOH Bicol OIC Regional Director Dr. Rosa Maria B. Rempillo personally visited several evacuation centers in Albay to deliver essential commodities and oversee the establishment of medical stations on January 9, 2026.
During the visit in the towns of Camalig, Malilipot and Tabaco City, DOH Bicol distributed essential supplies including facemasks, water containers, and assorted medicines to help address immediate needs in the evacuation sites. These provisions aim to ensure clean water storage, promote infection prevention, and provide basic medical support for evacuees.
Meanwhile, the health department is set to deliver the same health commodities to evacuation centers in Guinobatan and Ligao City on January 10.
To further strengthen health services, medical stations were set up inside the evacuation centers, manned by personnel from respective Rural Health Units (RHUs), DOH Human Resources for Health (HRH), and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs). These stations provide immediate medical consultations, basic treatment, and health monitoring for evacuees, ensuring that communities remain protected despite the challenges of displacement.
The DOH Bicol continues its close coordination with disaster response teams, the Office of the Civil Defense Region 5, PDOHO Albay, and affected Local Government Units to ensure a unified and effective health response.
