The Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD) is continuing and strengthening its efforts towards the post-typhoon Kristine situation.
DOH Bicol CHD Regional Director Dr. Rodolfo Antonio M. Albornoz assured the public of the Department’s continuing service, up to the far-flung areas in the region.
“Rest assured that the DOH in partnership with other agencies is continuously reaching out to communities, especially in hard-to-reach areas so they may be provided with the necessary health service,” RD Albornoz said.
As of October 30, 2024, the DOH Bicol CHD has reported a total of 47 damaged health facilities (2 DOH hospitals, 6 Rural Health Units, 3 Private Hospitals, and 36 Barangay Health Stations). Thus, the DOH has augmented Health Care Workers (HCWs) from the different DOH Hospitals across the country to strengthen the Bicol workforce in hospitals and Rural Health Units.
A total of P3,727,651 worth of logistics assistance was given to affected communities through the Local Government Units. This includes various drugs and medicines, collapsible water container, jerry cans, hygiene kits, aquatabs, disaster relief tent, face mask, body bags, doxycycline, generator set, water test kits, tetanus toxoid, and cadaver bags.
The DOH Bicol CHD has already provided doxycycline for post-exposure treatment of Leptospirosis. In addition, 10,137 individuals were provided with Psychological Mental Health interventions in the form of consolation, material support, emotional ventilation, and information and referral.
Alongside this, the DOH Bicol CHD is continuously deploying its emergency response teams composed of the medical team, WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) team, nutrition team, and MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychological Support) team to evacuation sites in the Province of Camarines Sur.
