Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Camalig Chief Rommel V. Negrete Jr. warned of possible ashfall as Mayon Volcano continues to exhibit lava collapse events and generate pyroclastic density currents.
Residents were advised to remain indoors and wear facemasks to protect against ash particles that may affect air quality and health.
The MDRRMO reported that Mayon has been producing moderate steam-laden plumes rising about 200 to 1,000 meters above the crater.
Prevailing winds are pushing the plumes toward the west-southwest and west-northwest, increasing the likelihood of ash dispersal in nearby communities.
Trace ashfall has been reported in parts of Guinobatan, particularly in Barangays Muladbucad and Nabonton, as well as in Ligao City affecting Barangays Nasisi, Basag, and Tambo.
Light ashfall has also been recorded in areas of Camalig.
Mayor Carlos Baldo and the MDRRMO said they continue to monitor the situation and urged the public to stay updated with official advisories, minimize outdoor exposure, and take necessary precautions as volcanic activity persists.
