The 2025 Sports Fest officially kicked off on October 27, 2025, at the Iriga City Sports Center, with an exciting exhibition basketball game between the LGU All-Star team and Team BFP/BJMP. The LGU All-Star team dominated the game, finishing with an impressive 121-69 victory, giving the crowd a thrilling preview of the action to come in the basketball portion of the event. Councilors Jeff B. Tino, Jor-El O. Caayao, and JM A. Grimaldo played for the LGU team and contributed to their dominant victory, adding to the excitement of the match.
Following the exhibition, the first official basketball match of the Sports Fest took place between Cluster 1 – Blue Label and Cluster 2 – Yellow Thunderbolts. In a hard-fought game, Blue Label secured an 87-59 win, showing strong team play and resilience throughout the match. Mayor Rex C. Oliva personally joined the game alongside Engr. Solomon Ngo, with both leaders making significant contributions, especially in scoring, further energizing the competition.
The exhibition and official games provided a strong start to the basketball segment of the Sports Fest, with both matches showcasing the enthusiasm, camaraderie, and competitive spirit that will define the rest of the tournament. As the basketball competition continues, excitement is building for the upcoming games, promising even more thrilling action and fierce matchups in the days ahead.
