Eighty-six (86) senior citizens in Iriga City have been officially validated as beneficiaries of the Expanded Centenarian Act of 2016, in recognition of their longevity and life contributions to the community.
The three-day validation activity, held from June 2 to 4, 2025, covered qualified Octogenarians, Nonagenarians, and Centenarians whose birth dates fall between March 17, 2024, and June 2024. The first two days were conducted at the OSCA Conference Room, while house-to-house validation was done last June 4 for senior citizens who are Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
The activity was spearheaded by the Office for Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) led by Mr. Perfecto M. Gascon, with the support of Assistant OSCA Officer Ms. Marjorie Terrano. It was made possible through close collaboration with the City Legal Office, headed by Atty. Shane B. Imperial, together with Atty. Lee Johan Marie O. Caayao and Atty. Stanly Noel C. Aguilar, who extended free notarization services to all validated beneficiaries.
The Expanded Centenarian Act of 2025 broadens the scope of recognition to include Irigueño senior citizens aged 80 and above — a meaningful step in ensuring that elders receive both the honor and assistance they deserve in their twilight years.
This initiative, supported by the administration of Mayor Rex C. Oliva, reaffirms Iriga City’s unwavering commitment to championing the welfare and dignity of its senior citizens.
Families of soon-to-be Octogenarians, Nonagenarians, and Centenarians are encouraged to visit the OSCA office to inquire about eligibility and application procedures for this program.
