A total of 48 members of the Local Government Unit Emergency Quick Response Teams completed a four-day Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support–Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation with Automated External Defibrillator Training Course on June 18.

The training, conducted by the Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, aimed to strengthen emergency response capabilities across the province.

Participants underwent intensive instruction and practical exercises on standard first aid procedures, cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques, and the proper use of automated external defibrillators.

The course was held from June 15 to 18 to enhance the competence, preparedness, and confidence of disaster risk reduction and management personnel and other emergency responders who are often first on the scene during disasters and medical emergencies.

The training also focused on improving responders’ ability to provide immediate medical care and safely transport patients requiring urgent attention.

According to Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office Head Oscar Robert H. Cristobal, continuous capacity-building initiatives are vital to ensuring that emergency responders remain ready to protect communities during disasters and other emergencies.

The program also promoted stronger coordination among emergency response clusters through the standardization of Basic Life Support protocols across the province.

The successful completion of the training reflects the Provincial Government of Albay’s continuing efforts to enhance the skills of local responders and improve the delivery of emergency services to Albayanos.
