The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 5 (BFAR 5) has been recognized for its exemplary service during the onslaught and aftermath of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine. The Sangguniang Panglungsod of Naga City, through Resolution No. 2025-004, expressed gratitude and commended BFAR 5 personnel for their dedication to rescue and evacuation operations and relief distribution.
The resolution also acknowledged BFAR 5βs courageous service and diligent performance of duty, despite risks to their lives, limbs, and well-being. They sacrificed personal safety and comfort to assist others, providing boats for rescue operations that helped save lives and ensure the safety of affected communities. The commendation was formally presented on February 24, 2025, at the Naga City Hall Grounds. Ruben M. Peyra Jr., Planning Officer, represented BFAR 5 and accepted the recognition on behalf of the agency.
BFAR 5 remains committed to its mandate of serving fisherfolk and coastal communities, not only in fisheries development but also during crises. This recognition highlights the agencyβs steadfast dedication to public service and disaster response.
