IATF allows holding of Seniors Women’s Volleyball, PBA tourneys

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) allowed the holding of two major sporting events in the country. 

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said the IATF issued a resolution last Thursday allowing the Philippine National Volleyball Federation to host the 21st Asian Seniors Women’s Volleyball Championship.

He said it also it also authorized the Philippine Basketball Association to restart its 46th season.

The IATF required the organizers of both events to comply with the necessary health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

It also allowed the the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict to hold its Bike for Peace and Justice program but only in Modified General Community Quarantine and General Community Quarantine.

Last, Roque said the IATF also updated the list of countries/jurisdictions/territories considered as “Green” for the purpose of the testing and quarantine protocols for fully vaccinated individuals.

The list now includes Albania, American Samoa, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Azerbaijan, Barbados, Benin, Bermuda, The British Virgin Islands, Brunei, Burkina Faso, Cayman Islands, Chad, China, Comoros, Cote d’ Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Curacao, Dominica, Eswatini, Falkland Islands, French Polynesia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Greenland, Grenada, Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region of China) and Iceland.  

Also consider as “Green” countries are Isle of Man, Israel, Laos, Liechtenstein, Mali, Malta, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Federated States of Micronesia, Montserrat, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niger, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Romania, Saba (Special Municipality of the Kingdom of Netherlands), Saint Barthelemy, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Singapore, Sint Eustatius, South Korea, Taiwan, Togo, Turks and Caicos Islands (UK) and Vietnam. 

Fully vaccinated inbound travellers, who stayed in the said “green” countries and jurisdictions, will have their stay in quarantine facilities shortened from the average 10 days to just 7 days provided they will test negative for Covid-19.
