Grocery store and supermarket owners in the city have until August 27 to have their workers tested for Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Mayor Benjamin Magalong said  the test can either be the swab or Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction or the Antigen.

“I will request them to submit the names of those who underwent the said test on or before August 28 (Friday) to the City Permits and Licensing Office,” the mayor said.

Both agreed earlier on the mandatory testing of the workers after clusterings of COVID-19 cases occurred one known grocery store following the city’s expanded  testing.

“It showed how susceptible the sector is to the virus.  Mandatory testing would help identify who among them are carriers so that we could immediately isolate them,” the mayor said.

With the mandatory testing, the city expects a surge in its positive cases anew. (Aileen Refuerzo)
