Davao Oriental –  The 10th Infantry (Agila) Division of the Philippine Army in partnership with the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental gave life to a once dull and isolated village in Lupon, Davao Oriental last Tuesday, November 17.

Known to be one of the most NPA-polluted villages in the province, Sitio Sigang in Brgy. Maragatas was formally cleansed with President Rodrigo Duterte’s Executive Order No. 70 (End Local Communism).

Agila Division Commanding General MGen. Reuben Basiao along with Davao Oriental Governor Neslon Dayanghirang’s top aide Ednar Dayanghirang and other government department representatives organized a fun fair for the people of Sitio Sigang which are composed largely by Mandaya tribe.

It was so delightful that there could be no room for fear or doubt.

The program has actually opened more opportunities, and gave hope for the community.

To fuel the village and its people, DOLE turned over ₱ 1million to the Youth of Sitio Sigang on top of launching its Cash for Work Program.

The Provincial Government, for its part, turned over the food processing and souvenir shop worth ₱ 300,000.

Private partners also turned over their respective shares.

Joncyr Company gave 500 chicks while an anonymous company funded the “Pabahayanihan”.

The government also turned over a merchandise store for a mother who’s children are active in the NPA, emphasizing that there are opportunities in the folds of the government rather than against.

Simultaneously, Department of Education (DOH), Philippine Army and Philippine National Police provided their respective services.

The event was considered a baptism of an area once filled with lies, deceit, fear and blind from the real democracy. (Ads Morell | TROPA in Action | OIC Michael Manguhig, RPN DXKT Davao)
