GBDAIS to Host 5th Benguet Chess Tournament
Kapangan, Benguet — Gov. Bado Dangwa Agro-Industrial School (GBDAIS) is set to host the 5th Benguet Chess Tournament on January 24. FIDE Arbiter and Trainer Carlos K. Mama-o Jr., tournament organizer, said the event—considered the biggest independent chess tournament in Benguet—aims to provide chess enthusiasts with direct competitive experience at the provincial level. He added that the tournament is held in different municipalities to bring the competition closer to players who cannot afford to join tournaments in La Trinidad and Baguio City. Registration for the tournament runs from January 7 to 22. A registration fee of ₱150 will be collected from participants in the Kiddies Division (12 years old and below), while ₱200 will be charged for those in the Open Division (13 years old and above). Cash prizes and awards await the top 10 finishers in the tournament. (Patrol 13 – Augustin A. Dao-anis)
