Bacolod City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson urged fully vaccinated Negrenses who want to travel to still follow minimum health protocols.
Lacson issued an executive order easing travel restrictions in the province for individuals who are already fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Earlier, the National Inter-Agency Task Force (NIATF), in Resolution 124-B, eased the rules on the interzonal travel of fully vaccinated persons.
The NIATF resolution said that travelers who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are only required to present proof of complete vaccination instead of swab test results.
The governor said that borders with neighboring Negros Oriental is now open but with restrictions still in place, and travelers are still required to register via S-PaSS system.
But he expressed caution in traveling to Dumaguete due to the upsurge of COVID-19 cases in Negros Oriental.
As of July 10, the Provincial Health Office reported that Negros Oriental has a total of 1,501 active infections. Most of them are in Dumaguete City, where there are 242 cases.
Negros Occidental’s cumulative report from March 27, 2020 to July 9, 2021 indicated 19,884 total cases (1,961 active cases, 485 deaths, 17,438 recoveries)
On July 10, 2021, Negros Occidental reported 100 new cases.
