Bacolod City – The Bacolod City Health Office has recorded a total of five deaths out of the 44 suspected leptospirosis cases in Bacolod City this month.
The fatalities are all males with the latest a 53-year-old male from Brgy. Bata. The rest were a 69-year-old male from Brgy. Taculing, 28-year-old male from Brgy. Banago, 16-year-old male from Brgy. Handumanan, and a 44-year-old male from Brgy. Villamonte.
The most common reason for complication and death is the delay in seeking consultation and treatment.
Meanwhile, the CHO also recorded a total of 44 confirmed and suspected cholera cases in Bacolod City. Out of the 44, five were confirmed as cholera cases.
Dr. Grace Tan, head of the CHO Environmental Sanitation Division, also said the total number of cholera cases this year saw an increase of 320 percent compared to the total number of reported cases last year.
