Fire Victims Told To Maintain Social Distancing

Mayor Inday Sara Duterte asked fire victims in Barangay Ilang to observe social distancing despite being in the evacuation center.

About 300 to 400 families were affected by the fire that broke out in puroks 3-B and 3-C in New Society Village, Barangay Ilang on Wednesday morning.

Speaking over the city government-operated Davao City Disaster Radio, Mayor Inday said that social distancing is very important to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among the evacuees.

“Mag observe gihapon ta og social distancing sa evacuation center,” she said.

The area that the fire hit has a positive case of Covid-19 but she said that those who had close contact with the confirmed case had already been placed in a separate center, where they stay in separate rooms.

“Dunay area man gud sa ilaha nga naka quarantine, so gi-separate sila didto sa mga wala naka quarantine,” Mayor Inday said.

The fire victims are currently being assisted by the City Social Welfare Development Office, which also gives them hot meals. CIO
